Diwali means home fiesta for Bollywood stars

This year, Diwali for Bollywood stars was with their family. Priyanka Chopra Jonas- Nick Jonas, Kapil Sharma, Sonakshi Sinha and others posted stunning pics on Instagram.

The celebrities basked in the ‘Festival of Lights’ by decking up in traditional attires, decorating their house and indulging in rituals.

The celebrations of Diwali was not restricted to India as Priyanka Chopra Jonas celebrated Diwali with her husband, actor-musician Nick Jonas in the US. Wearing a saree and flaunting floral print, Priyanka shared a loved-up picture of the couple looking into each others’ eyes while holding diyas.

Milind Soman also decked up in traditional attire with wife Ankita Konwar, who looked beautiful in a saree. The duo performed pooja, and also decorated their house with a rangoli and diya. The actor-fitness enthusiast urged his followers to ‘Think good, speak good, do good.’

Shatrughan Sinha and children, actor Sonakshi Sinha and Luv Sinha, who recently contested in the Bihar elections, performed prayers at their residence.

Kapil Sharma shared hearwarming pictures with daughter Anayra, wife Ginni Chatrath  and mother Janak Rani, dressed in dark-coloured shades and all smiles.

Kartik Aaryan too upped the ethnic glam quotient as he posted a candid snap with doctor-sister Kritika.

Sonali Bendre Behl celebrated with husband, filmmaker Goldier Behl and son Ranveer. Posing in ethnic attire, the actor urged her fans to ‘focus on the positives’ as they celebrated with ‘less fanfare but a lot more togetherness.’

Pooja Hegde, who has been on a roll with multiple film signings in the past few weeks, and her family members wore matching bright traditional attires to wish ‘love, light, positivity and happiness’ to the fans on the occasion.

The Bachchans did not organise a big celebration due the coronavirus pandemic. As per a Mumbai Mirror report, they did now throw a party due to deaths in the family.

Go local for Diwali, Bollywood urges fans

Mumbai: Bollywood celebrities have urged people to respond positively to the government appeal to promote local businesses during the festival of Diwali.

Filmmaker Karan Johar tweeted: “We came together to honor our weavers on National Handloom Day and with your support it has ensured successful sales for many in need. On the 9th of November, we are making a kind appeal for you to support our weavers, artisans, textile companies and establishments. Together, they bring the joy of a simple earthen diya, rangoli and other embellishments to your local market.”

“This Diwali, we urge you to join hands and show some festive support on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Take a picture of your favorite article and tag the person you purchase it from and go #Local4Diwali”.

Sonali Bendre tweeted from her verified account: “This Diwali, let’s celebrate and support local products and brands!” She used the hashtag #Local4Diwali and tagged Union Cabinet Minister for Textiles Smriti Z Irani in her tweet.

Singer and BJP politician Babul Supriyo tweeted from his verified account to say: “PM Shri @narendramodi has given a clarion call to promote local products and be vocal for them. This Diwali, let’s support our craftsmen, artisans and local businesses and be the reason for their celebration. Buy local handmade products. #Local4Diwali.”

Not only campaigning for local products, several actors also raised their voice urging people to make Diwali pollution free by avoiding the bursting of fire crackers.
