Albany, NY: Absentee ballots have proved magical for not only Joe Biden but also for Democratic Party candidates in New York state. Congressman Thomas Suozzi has finally won a tight race for the state’s 3rd Congressional district falling in Long Island. He defeated Republican George Santos, who had enjoyed a narrow lead earlier in the count, but Suozzi closed the gap and then pulled ahead by 6 percentage points as absentee ballots were counted. Santos conceded the race on Tuesday.
Kevin Thomas, the first Indian American to serve in the State Senate, also declared victory on Monday in his 2020 reelection bid after the results of the absentee ballot vote count put him over his Republican challenger Dennis Dunne.
