AAPI holds in-person mini convention in Chicago

Chicago, IL: The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) held a mini Convention and Fall Governing Body Meeting here on Sept 26.

AAPI President Dr. Sudhakar Jonnalagadda appreciated the delegate who attended the convention at Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel in person despite fears of the Covid pandemic.  Of course, strict precautions as per CDC, state and federal regulations were observed throughout the convention, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.  

VIPs at the convention included Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, Consul General of India in Chicago Amit Kumar and Dr. Srinath Reddy, President of Public Health Foundation of India.

Chief Guest, India’s Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, said in his virtual address, “I applaud AAPI for being a dynamic body, spearheading legislative agendas and influencing the advancement of medical care not only in the US but across the globe.” He urged the AAPI fraternity to share with their Indian counterparts and the Indian Medical Association, the invaluable experiences gained by our doctors working abroad, which will help in devising an effective strategy to combat antibiotic resistance. He also urged NRI doctors to build collaborations in Research and Development to address various health issues, including combating  tropical diseases like TB and malaria.”

A coffee table book titled ‘Annals of AAPI’, chronicling the history of AAPI was released at the meet.

Physicians of Indian Origin in the United States are reputed to be leading health care providers, holding crucial positions in various hospitals and health care facilities around the nation and the world. AAPI is a leading ethnic medical organization that represents nearly 100,000 physicians and fellows of Indian Origin in the US.
