Seville (Spain), Aug 31:Five-time winners Sevilla are headed back to the Europa League after dominating Sigma Olomouc 3-0 in the second leg of their qualifying tie.
Leading 1-0 after the first leg in Olomouc, Sevilla confronted a visiting side ready to throw caution to the wind here on Thursday, reports EFE news agency.
While Sigma didnt lack for daring and ambition, they continued to suffer from an inability to finish and their offense-first approach created plenty of space for Sevilla.
Sigmas Jakub Plsek had the first shot of the game, within 2 minutes of the opening whistle, but Sevilla appeared to draw first blood with a strike by Nolito in the 9th minute before the goal was disallowed for a previous foul.
New acquisition Maxime Gonalons scored his first goal for Sevilla in the 21st minute and the tie was pretty much decided just five minutes later as a poor attempt at a clearance by Sigma forward Martin Nespor ended up in his own teams net.
The home team let up after pulling ahead 3-0 on aggregate and Sevilla goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik was forced to make stops against David Houska and Roman Polom before the break.
Sigma lost steam in the second half amid the heat and humidity of a summer night in Seville and late sub Yissam Ben Yedder scored a third goal for the hosts in the 75th minute.Read More
